Thomas Schaller
Candy Containers
by Christopher Radko
What is a Schaller?
A Schaller is a German hand crafted paper mache candy container
usually in the form of a Santa. Each piece takes up to 7 days
to create, and some are encrusted with millions of tiny tiny colored
beads. This is an old craft from Germany that became almost
obsolete after World War II. The original Schaller's were
named after the founder Ino Schaller. In recent years the
great grandson Thomas Schaller, brought life back to the craft and
began re-producing these wonderful pieces of art using the original
molds. What we have showcased below are the new Schaller
originals made exclusively for the Christopher Radko company. |
